Payrolls - damp squib

Friday's hotly anticipated data on payrolls in fact turned out to be something of a Moist firecrackers, suffered from bad weather during the study in large parts of the country. According to the Department of Labor, about 886,000 could not get to work last month, which makes it rather difficult task of interpreting the growth of 36 among the employed. Currently the impact of such conditions is not fully appreciated, but it is clear that the bad weather had a negative impact on the statistics. It is not surprising that employment in construction fell by 32,000 during the month. In contrast, employment in manufacturing rose by 49,000, the highest monthly increase since August 1998. With such distortions, it is difficult to determine whether a real improvement in job creation, which was celebrated in other indicators.
