Canadian labor market is improving

Last week was a series of good news from the labor market around the world. In Canada, the increase in the number of employed amounted to 69.2 thousand in January, more than four times exceeded the predictions, after rising by 30.4 thousand a month earlier. What is impressive is the increase in total employment by 200 thousand over the past six months, while the number of people with part-time work decreased by 80 thousand. The unemployment rate rose to 7.8%, reflecting a jump in the workforce. As a result, the Canadian dollar climbed 0.7% to 0.9860 to the U.S.
