Permanent member of the Monetary Committee, Andrew Sentance continues to advance its argument by suggesting on Monday that the Bank of England will soon need to raise the basic rate, to fight inflationary pressures. It calls for a gradual increase in interest rates, knowing that business and consumer confidence remain fragile.
